Thomas Bata Residential Children’s Home

Our children’s home looks like any other home in the street and has all the facilities of a family home, furnished to a high standard of comfort and appearance. All of our homes are registered and regulated by Ofsted and we therefore maintain the appropriate standards and quality of care which we get inspected and rated against.

Thomas House provides services to children and young people with Emotional Behavioural Disorders and mild learning disabilities. It can have up to 4 occupants and is based in Tilbury, Essex. Our mission is to support and nurture children to achieve their full potential.

What is a Residential Children’s Home?

Our Residential Children’s Home provides a safe and caring environment for young people who are unable to live at home. Our homes can can accommodate young people of either gender; aged from eight to eighteen years old. When young people are unable to live at home with their families, the local authority becomes the main care provider.

Our children’s homes have a genuine, warm atmosphere giving a sense of security and belonging for young people. There is a real sense of community, to which both our young people and staff contribute to, which is based on mutual respect.

Our residential team work in partnership with families, carers, local authorities and commissioners, and the young people themselves to establish the most suited residential care placement based on their individual needs and requirements so we can deliver the best level of care and support. We promote regular activities for children in our care and encourage them to take part in a variety of sports, hobbies and new experiences that they may enjoy.
